Itinerary
The first day of our journey begins in Cusco, with pick up from our hotel around 4 am, then we will make a journey of several hours by car where we can enjoy spectacular scenery and snowy to reach Mollepata, where we will be at approximately 6 am and then have free time to enjoy breakfast and then continue to the starting point of our trekking.
Around 9:00 a.m. we will start with our trekking to Soraypampa, on the first part of our way we will take some beautiful views of the valleys until we reach Soraypampa where we will enjoy our lunch and a short rest. At sunset we will ascend to visit the Humantay Lake and its blue waters that reflect the imposing glaciers, making it one of the most beautiful places in the Andes.
After our visit to the Humantay Lake we will return to our base in Soraypampa to enjoy our dinner and spend the night in the middle of the glacial valleys and the Salkantay Mountain. It will be a magical night where we can clearly see the constellation stars that will leave you impressed with a unique experience.
Our day will begin with a delicious breakfast in the mountains of Salkantay, this day we will make a walk of approximately 5 kilometers this Trekking will take us to the highest point of the walk the passage Salkantay that is around 4615 meters of altitude, from that point we will enjoy spectacular views of the valleys and imposing snowy peaks of the Mountains of Humantay.
Then we will make a trekking downhill for about 5 kilometers, going from a cold and mountainous landscape to a warmer and more jungle-like one until Huayracmachay, where we will stop for lunch. Afterwards we will continue with our way to the small town of Collpapampa, where we will have dinner and spend the night in a campsite that is located in a warm jungle
We will get up early and after breakfast, we will start our walk to the small town of La Playa, crossing the Santa Teresa Valley, during the walk we will be in full contact with nature, we will see rivers, waterfalls, beautiful wild orchids and coffee and banana plantations among others, in a fusion of virgin and domesticated nature.
Once we arrive in Aguas Calientes we will have free time before dinner to rest or walk around the city or visit the famous hot springs and enjoy a relaxing bath near the clouds. At 7 pm, we will all have dinner together at a local restaurant, here we will also plan our visit to Machu Picchu the next day. We will spend the night in our Hostel with private bathroom and toilet.
This day we will have to get up at approximately 4 a.m. to enjoy the magical Machu Picchu. On the fourth and last day of the Salkantay trek we will climb Machu Picchu by walking for an hour and a half. If you feel tired you can skip the walk and go by bus, tickets can be bought in the town of Aguascalientes, you can also buy them in advance in the reserve with us.
Upon entering the Inca citadel of Machu Picchu we will have a guided tour of approximately 2 hours and then we can walk on our own in Machu Picchu where we will discover the fascinating history of the place.
By booking in advance, for a $25 fee we can climb Huayna Picchu or the mountain as these accesses are available as extras. At the end we will have to go down to Aguas Calientes walking or by bus for $12 to take the train to Ollantaytambo which is included, where this transport will not be waiting to return to Cusco downtown where we will arrive approximately 8:00 p.m

Generally, the weather is pleasant during the day, even hot, and cold at night. The temperature can drop below 0°C at some points, especially on the first night. The best time to do the Salkantay Trek is from May to September, when it is colder but there is less chance of rain. The rainy season is from December to March.
